1、Farewell to 'father of hybrid rice'
送别'杂交水稻之父'袁隆平
China on Monday morning held a memorial service to bid farewell to Yuan Longping, known as the father of hybrid rice, who passed away on Saturday. Despite being a busy work day, thousands of people dressed in black showed up and laid flowers at the site before the service began at 10 am in Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province. The top rice scientist, who in 1973 developed the first high-yield hybrid rice strain, died of organ failure at 91 in Changsha.
我国著名农业科学家、杂交水稻之父袁隆平因多器官功能衰竭于5月22日在湖南长沙逝世，享年91岁。5月24日上午10时，袁隆平遗体送别仪式在长沙举行。虽然是繁忙的工作日，但数千群众身着黑衣手持鲜花前来殡仪馆送别袁老。袁隆平是我国首席杂交水稻育种专家，他于1973年成功培育出高产量的籼型杂交水稻。
In 2019, Yuan was awarded the Medal of the Republic, China's highest state honor.
2019年，袁隆平被授予国家最高荣誉奖共和国勋章。
The agronomist spent over five decades researching and improving hybrid rice, which has reached its third generation, helping China work a great wonder - feeding nearly one-fifth of the world's population with less than 9 percent of the world's total arable land.
50多年来，袁隆平全心致力于研究和改进杂交稻，目前已经培育到了第三代。杂交水稻技术的进步创造了伟大的中国奇迹——我国用不到世界9%的耕地养活了世界近20%的人口。
2、China-Europe freight train trips surge
4月中欧班列开行1218列
The number of China-Europe freight trains hit 1,218 in April, up 24% year on year, data from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) showed on Tuesday. The freight trains carried approximately 117,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit containers of goods last month, surging 33% from a year earlier.
国家发改委新闻发言人金贤东5月18日透露，2021年4月份，中欧班列开行1218列，运送货物11.7万标箱，同比分别增长24%、33%。
In the past five years, the train services have become increasingly well-known around the globe as they have facilitated infrastructure connectivity and deepened trade cooperation for countries along the rail route, said Jin Xiandong, a spokesperson for NDRC.

To date, the total number of China-Europe freight trains has reached 38,000, and they have transported 3.4 million twenty-foot equivalent unit containers. The goods transported by the train services reach 151 cities in 22 European countries, with a logistics network covering the entire region, Jin added.
截至目前，中欧班列累计开行已达3.8万列，运送货物340万标箱，通达欧洲22个国家的151个城市，物流配送网络覆盖欧洲全境。
3、Livestreaming service users reach 617M
我国直播用户达6.17亿
The number of online livestreaming service users in China reached 617 million in 2020, according to a report on the development of China's livestreaming industry. The number of livestreaming anchor accounts exceeded 130 million by the end of 2020, said the report, released by the livestreaming branch of the China Association of Performing Arts on Tuesday.
中国演出行业协会网络表演(直播)分会5月18日发布《2020年中国网络表演(直播)行业发展报告》称，截至2020年底，我国直播用户规模达到6.17亿，网络表演(直播)行业主播账号累计超1.3亿。
Livestreaming in China was already burgeoning even before the COVID-19 epidemic, with the industry’s market estimated to be worth over 193 billion yuan in 2020, according to the report.

By the end of 2020, China had nearly 6,000 internet business units qualified to offer online livestreaming services, including about 20 leading platforms, while nine livestreaming platforms had been listed on the stock market.

National Day
1、张灯结彩
我国每逢国庆佳节，各企事业单位都会挂起灯笼或横幅，用欢度国庆等标语来庆祝国庆;广场上则摆放着标语字样的盆景和氢气球，用欢乐的气氛来迎接国庆。
Every National Day festival in China, all enterprises and institutions will hang up lanterns or banners to celebrate National Day with slogans such as Happy National Day. 2、国庆长假
每年10月1日是我国的国庆节，我国于1999年修订发布《全国年节及纪念日放假办法》，将国庆节与相邻的周六、日组合为7天的国庆长假，被称之为国庆黄金周，用放假的形势，让老百姓共同感受国庆的欢乐。
October 1st is the National Day of China every year. 3、高速公路免费
