1.国考开始报名
2020年度国考网上报名10月15日8时正式启动。本次考试主要采取网上报名方式，报考者可在2019年10月15日8:00至10月24日18:00期间登录考录专题网站，提交报考申请，笔试时间定为2019年11月24日。
China plans to recruit about 24,000 civil servants to work for 86 central agencies and 23 institutions directly attached to them in the 2020 civil servant intake, the State Administration of Civil Service said Monday.
国家公务员局10月14日表示，本次国考共计划招录2.4万人，涉及中央和国家机关86个单位、23个直属机构。

这是新修订的公务员法实施后第一次中央机关及其直属机构公务员招考，招录规模较上年的1.45万余人大幅增加。
根据国家公务员局的介绍，本次招录有三大特征。首先突出政治要求，将政治素质（political integrity）考查贯穿始终。其次，坚持基层导向，招考政策和录用计划向基层一线倾斜。
2.南极臭氧空洞异乎寻常
The ozone hole that opens every year over the Antarctic is on course to be the smallest in three decades, scientists have said.
科学家称，南极上空每年出现的臭氧空洞将是30年来最小的。
The hole is currently well under half the area that usually opens up by mid-September, and may have already reached its maximum size, a little smaller in area than the Antarctic continent.
目前，臭氧空洞的面积小于通常情况下9月中旬面积的一半，而且可能已经达到最大尺寸，比南极大陆的面积还要小一点。
Researchers say the hole is also a particularly unusual shape this year, being heavily skewed towards South America instead of centering on the South Pole.

The rare shape-never before observed-indicates a significant distortion to the usual polar vortex, which maintains low temperatures in the stratosphere.

Researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS) developed a new type of probiotic beer which could improve your immune system and neutralize pathogens and toxins.

The idea came from Chan Mei Zhi Alcine, a fourth-year student from the Food Science and Technology Program at the NUS Faculty of Science.

二、Hot words
转眼已是深秋十月，天气的迅速转变让我们都已裹上了厚重棉衣，那“今天有点冷”用英语怎么说呢？千万别说成：today is cold
today is cold为什么是错的？
可能大家脑海里会浮现出这样的知识点：
today is hot / today is cold
（今天有点热/今天有点冷）
其实这都是中国式英语，因为"冷热"的是天气，不是today，主语要用"it"代替the weather，today或 yesterday这种时间副词，放在句尾就可以。
正确的表达为
①It's cold today.
今天挺冷的。
②It was hot yesterday.
昨天很热。
③I need to put my new coat on. It's cold today.
我得把我新买的外套穿上，今天有点冷了。
以此类推：
“外面下雨 ”也不能用outside is raining来表达，主语也一定要用it，因为下雨的是老天，而不是“外面”
正确的表达为
①It's raining outside.
外面下雨了。
②It's raining outside. We'd better stay inside until the rain stops.
外面在下雨，等雨停了我们再出去吧。

小雨一般用light rain
light本身就有少量的意思
例句：

sprinkle 除了“洒、撒”也有下小雨的意思

外国人形容“雨大”习惯用"heavy"，heavy rain 就是“大雨，暴雨”
