1.嫦娥四号探测器成功着陆月球背面
A new chapter opened in mankind's exploration of the moon as China's Chang'e-4 lunar probe landed on the far side of the moon on Thursday morning after a 26-day journey.
2019年1月3日上午，我国的嫦娥四号月球探测器在经过26天的旅程后降落月球背面，人类探月新篇章随之开启。
嫦娥4号月球探测器于2018年12月8日凌晨2时23分在西昌卫星发射中心由长征三号乙运载火箭发射升空。2019年1月3日上午10时26分，经过26天的飞行，嫦娥4号月球探测器顺利在月球背面南极-艾特肯盆地的冯·卡门撞击坑内着陆(land on the Von Karman crater in the South Pole-Aitken basin)，随后传回一张由自带监视器拍摄的着陆点照片(a picture of the landing site shot by one of the monitor cameras on the probe's lander)，这是世界上首张月球背面影像图(the world's first image taken on the moon's far side)。
至此，嫦娥四号任务实现了人类探测器首次月背软着陆(soft landing on the moon's far side)、首次月背与地球的中继通信(relay communication)，开启了人类探月新篇章(open new page in lunar exploration)。
《哪吒之魔童降世》成为首部票房破十亿的国产动画
2019年暑期最火爆的电影当属《哪吒之魔童降世》，票房已突破四十亿，位居中国影史票房榜第三位，创造了国产动画票房奇迹。

中国女排卫冕女排世界杯冠军
今年9月底，女排姑娘们以十一连胜的战绩卫冕世界杯冠军，实现了世界三大赛“十冠王”的壮举。
The women's national volleyball team has been the pride of the Chinese people since China first claimed the championship in 1981. It beat Serbia on September 28, right before the National Day holiday, defending its World Cup crown with a record of 11 wins.

4.国庆阅兵

二、Hot Words
国家语言资源监测与研究中心、商务印书馆等联合主办的“汉语盘点2019”揭晓仪式在近日举行。
“Stability” was chosen as the hottest Chinese character related to domestic topics this year, while the phrase that swept the country was “me and my motherland”.
“稳”、“我和我的祖国”分别当选年度国内字、国内词。
The hottest character related to international topics was “difficulty”, and the hottest phrase related to international topics in 2019 was “trade frictions”.
“难”、“贸易摩擦”分别当选年度国际字、国际词。
The campaign received thousands of suggestions from netizens nationwide since it started on Nov 20.
11月20日，“汉语盘点2019”活动启动以来，收到了网友提交的数千个字词提名。
Many of the submissions related to domestic and international issues, but the dominant influencing factor was the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in October.

In 2019, we ushered in the 70th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China.

On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong announced the establishment of the Central People's Government of the people's Republic of China on the upper floor of Tiananmen Gate. The Chinese people became masters of the country since then, and China's history ushered in a new era. One hundred years ago, May 4, 1919 was a landmark time in modern Chinese history. From that day on, a patriotic movement of the Chinese people against imperialism and feudalism began. The May 4th Movement has also become a turning point from the old democratic revolution to the new democratic revolution in China.
100年前，1919年5月4日是中国近代史上一个标志性时间点，从那天开始，一场中国人民反对帝国主义、封建主义的爱国运动展开。五四运动也成了中国旧民主主义革命走向新民主主义革命的转折点。
